    Sensor Interface Unit (SIU)
     
     Features RS-485 host communications, onboard address DIP switches, indicator LEDs,
    and convenient wiring scew terminals.  Accepts three different sensor types: switches
    transducers, & photoelectric detectors.  Multiple units can be daisy-chained on a single cable.
     
      

    The Sensor Interface Unit (SIU) is a smart controller capable of capturing data from a sensor device and delivering the data to a host PC.  The SIU is compatible for use with the following sensor types:
    • Switches
    • Pressure transducers
    • Photoelectric detectors
    The SIU uses RS-485 to communicate with a host PC.  Multiple SIU controllers may be utilized in any given application.  (All can be powered from one AC power adapter.)  Up to 32 SIU devices may be networked together on a single RS-485 cable.  Convenient terminal blocks are provided for sensor wiring and host interfacing.  The SIU utilizes a command/response protocol where the host PC polls each controller for new sensor data.  New data is available when a significant change occurs. 

    Kadtronix can develop a custom application to suit your requirements.  For developers who want to create their own applications, an applications programming interface (API) is available in a dynamic link library (DLL).  A demonstration project is also available (VC6, VC2008) and includes source code.      The SIU is suitable for a number of applications including the following:
